HeroKit and Lindy are both AI assistants that go beyond answering questions: they read your email, work with your calendar and get tasks done. The biggest differences are where you talk to them and who they’re designed around.

The short version

  • Choose HeroKit if your day runs on WhatsApp or Telegram and you want an assistant with her own number: one you can text, send voice notes to and add to your groups, who asks before anything goes out.
  • Choose Lindy if your team works in Slack, you’d rather text from iMessage or SMS, or you need meeting recording and phone calls today.

Where you talk to your assistant

HeroKit lives where you already talk. She gets her own number on WhatsApp and Telegram, so you can save her as a contact, forward her anything and add her to your team groups. Send a 30-second voice note from the car, and she turns it into done work. There’s no new app to learn.

Lindy reaches you in two main ways. Your personal Lindy, the one that knows your email, calendar and meetings, is available over iMessage and SMS. The Lindy your team shares lives in Slack channels, where anyone can mention it. Lindy also works in your email and in the browser, including a Chrome extension that runs inside Gmail. In our review, we didn’t find WhatsApp or Telegram listed as a way to chat with Lindy.

Working with your team

Add HeroKit to your WhatsApp or Telegram groups and she answers data questions, pulls reports and tags the right people, so your team gets answers without waiting for you.

Lindy is built around one shared assistant for the team in Slack. Its website describes a single Lindy for the whole team, so what it learns compounds, along with a shared library of recorded meetings and reusable skills that everyone can use.

Email, calendar and meetings

Both assistants take on the daily inbox and calendar load.

  • HeroKit watches several Gmail accounts, filters the noise, summarizes what matters and alerts you only on what’s urgent. She checks your calendar, suggests times, sets reminders and prepares you before meetings, and sends a morning brief with today’s meetings, open tasks, deadlines and what’s waiting on you.
  • Lindy labels and sorts your inbox, drafts replies into your drafts folder, texts you when something time-sensitive arrives and drafts a follow-up when a sent email gets no reply. It finds meeting times, offers booking links, prepares meeting briefings, sends a daily brief, and records and transcribes meetings on Google Meet, Zoom and Teams.

If recorded meeting notes matter most to you, Lindy covers that today. HeroKit focuses on the work around your meetings: finding a time, sending reminders and preparing you before you walk in.

Voice and phone calls

HeroKit takes voice notes in any language. She transcribes them, understands the task and can answer you back with a voice message, which helps when you’re driving. Phone calls are coming soon: she’ll be able to make and receive calls for you, like booking appointments or calling back missed numbers.

Lindy transcribes and acts on voice notes you send by text message. On paid plans it can also have its own phone number with a US or Canadian area code: you can call it, have it call you, and ask it to make calls or take messages on your behalf.

Staying in control

Both products put real effort into this.

With HeroKit, nothing goes out without your OK: messages and emails to other people are sent only after you approve the exact text. You set approval levels: what she does on her own, what she asks first, and what she only plans. She doesn’t auto-reply to strangers; incoming messages are summarized for you with a suggested reply. And a weekly usage report shows exactly what she did and what it cost.

Lindy says nothing irreversible happens without your approval, and that actions that write or send can wait for it. Its website also lists SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA and PIPEDA compliance.

Who each one suits

HeroKit suits you if:

  • You run your day from WhatsApp or Telegram, often on your phone.
  • You want your assistant in the group chats your team or family already uses.
  • You talk more than you type, in any language.
  • You want to approve the exact wording of anything sent in your name.

Lindy suits you if:

  • Your team already works in Slack and wants one shared assistant there.
  • You’d rather text your assistant over iMessage or SMS.
  • You need meeting recording or phone calls today.
  • You rely on a wide range of business apps: Lindy lists Gmail, Slack, Notion, HubSpot and more than 1,500 others.

The bottom line

Both are capable assistants that do real work. The deciding question is where you want to work with yours. If the answer is WhatsApp or Telegram, see how HeroKit works or get your assistant.

Is HeroKit a good Lindy alternative?

It is if you want an assistant you reach on WhatsApp or Telegram. HeroKit has her own number there, works inside your groups, understands voice notes in any language and asks before anything goes out. If your team mainly works in Slack, or you need phone calls today, compare both on a real week of your work.

Does Lindy work on WhatsApp or Telegram?

When we reviewed Lindy's website and documentation on October 28, 2026, they described working with Lindy in Slack, over iMessage and SMS, by email and in the browser. We didn't find WhatsApp or Telegram listed as a way to chat with it. Check lindy.ai for the latest.

Which assistant can make phone calls?

Lindy's documentation describes phone calls on paid plans, with its own US or Canadian number. HeroKit phone calls are coming soon: she'll be able to make and receive calls for you, like booking appointments or calling back missed numbers.

Do both assistants ask before sending messages?

Both put approvals at the center. Lindy says actions that write or send can wait for your approval. With HeroKit, messages and emails to other people are sent only after you approve the exact text, and you choose what she does on her own, what she asks first and what she only plans.
